Faridabad Doctor Arrested in Alleged Illegal Cancer Drug Sale
Police in Delhi arrested a doctor from Faridabad who they say was selling expensive cancer medicines illegally.
The doctor allegedly ran an online pharmacy called HK Pharmaceutical.
Police say he bought two packs of Iclusig from a patient who no longer wanted the medicine.
The medicine was supplied to the patient through a US-based assistance programme.
Police say each pack was worth more than Rs 17 lakh, but the doctor paid Rs 40,000 for both.
They also say he dealt in Darzalex and Human Albumin.
Officers placed a fake order and arrested him when he arrived with the medicines.
Police are checking whether the medicines were genuine and how some of them entered India.
Police arrested 39-year-old Dr Manish Sharma after allegedly trapping him with cancer medicines worth more than Rs 50 lakh.
Sharma allegedly bought two packs of Iclusig from a blood cancer patient for Rs 40,000, despite their stated market value exceeding Rs 17 lakh per pack.
Police said his online pharmacy, HK Pharmaceutical, had also dealt in Darzalex 1.8 mg and Human Albumin Solution 20%.
Officers seized four Iclusig packets, four 100-ml Human Albumin vials and two Darzalex boxes during the arrest in Sukhdev Vihar.
Police are investigating whether some medicines were smuggled into India or carried across borders, and whether their MRP labels were fake.
