India’s Defence Indigenisation Targets 405 Components Across Supply Chains
India has published a new list of 405 defence items that it wants Indian companies to make.
The items include small parts, electronic systems, spare parts and raw materials.
They are used in aircraft, helicopters, missiles, ships and land vehicles.
The list could create business worth about Rs 3,100 crore through FY32.
This estimate covers all defence categories, not just aircraft and helicopters.
Defence electronics make up the largest part of the list.
Some aerospace items are connected to Tejas, Su-30MKI, ALH, LUH and the AL-31FP engine.
Making more parts in India could give smaller companies and suppliers more opportunities.
However, the list does not guarantee that every company will receive an order.
India’s sixth Positive Indigenisation List covers 405 components, subsystems, spares and raw materials.
Kotak Institutional Equities estimates the list represents about Rs 3,100 crore in domestic business opportunities through FY32.
Aerospace accounts for around 21% of the items, including requirements linked to Tejas, Su-30MKI, ALH, LUH and the AL-31FP engine.
Defence electronics is the largest category at around 56%, covering radars, sonars, satellite communications, fire-control and communications systems.
Bharat Electronics Limited is linked to 227 items and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to 86, together accounting for about 77% of the list.
