Telangana CEO: Over 92 Lakh Voters to Receive SIR Notices
Telangana is checking its list of voters to make sure it is correct and fair.
Officials found that many names on the list have problems, like people who moved away or passed away.
More than 92 lakh people will get a notice asking them to explain their situation.
These people have to reply to the election officer, who will decide if they can stay on the voter list.
If someone is unhappy with the decision, they can appeal to a higher officer.
The election office also found that some people are registered in more than one place.
The Election Commission said one type of family certificate cannot be used as proof, but an older certificate from 2013 can be accepted.
The state is also adding more polling stations so voting is easier for everyone.
All of this helps make sure elections are fair and every eligible person can vote.
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy announced that over 92 lakh voters will receive notices during the SIR exercise notice period.
The notice phase, covering disposal of claims and objections, will continue until October 15, with EROs scrutinising voter eligibility.
The ASDD list identifies 73,39,235 voters as absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate, including 9.22 lakh deceased and 45.18 lakh shifted voters.
The Election Commission clarified that the state's Family Register Certificate cannot be accepted, though the 2013 Family Member Certificate can be.
Polling stations increased from 35,985 to 36,353 after rationalisation, with the maximum voters per station reduced from 1,500 to 1,200.
Over 2.64 crore enumeration forms were collected during the enumeration phase, covering 78.3% of voters.
