IIM Bangalore Launches Undergraduate Programmes in Data Sciences, Economics
IIM Bangalore is starting its first undergraduate courses.
The courses will teach students about data science and economics.
Each course makes one subject the main focus and the other a minor subject.
Eighty students will join the first group.
They were chosen from about 12,000 applications.
The four-year courses will be residential, meaning students will live and study on campus.
Tata Trusts will help build the new undergraduate school.
The school will be located in the Jigani-Anekal area near Bangalore.
It will also support research in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science and Indian Knowledge Systems.
IIM Bangalore will begin four-year, full-time residential undergraduate programmes on August 31.
The inaugural cohort has 80 students selected from approximately 12,000 applications nationwide.
Students are split between Data Sciences with a minor in Economics and Economics with a minor in Data Sciences.
IIM Bangalore and Tata Trusts signed an August 21 agreement supporting the undergraduate school’s infrastructure and governance.
The new school is being developed in Jigani-Anekal, about 23 kilometres from IIM Bangalore’s Bannerghatta Road campus.
