Commerce Students Form Half of IIM Indore's New IPM Batch
IIM Indore is one of India's most famous business schools.
It has started a new five-year program for 156 new students.
The program is called the Integrated Programme in Management, or IPM.
Almost half of the new students studied commerce in school.
Many others studied physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
The students come from many different states in India, and a few come from other countries.
On August 10, the school held a big welcome event for them.
The school's director told the students to be curious, kind, and brave.
Getting into this program is very hard — only about half of one percent of students who applied got a seat.
The students will learn about business and grow together over five years.
Commerce students form the largest group in IIM Indore's new 156-member IPM 2026-31 batch, accounting for 48.1% (75 students).
The cohort includes 65 PCM students (41.7%), 7 PCB students, 8 from other disciplines, and 1 from Arts.
The batch has 48 female and 108 male students, with domestic participation led by Maharashtra (23), Uttar Pradesh (20), and Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan (12 each).
Five international students—three from the USA, one from Nepal, and one from Britain—are part of the batch, which began its two-day induction on Aug 10.
IPM Chair Aditya Maheshwari said only 156 of 30,203 applicants (0.51%) were selected and registered for the programme.
