Chidambaram proud to be 'dimagi naxal', hits back at Modi

Two very important men in India had a big argument.

One of them is Narendra Modi, the leader of the country, called the Prime Minister.

The other is P Chidambaram, a senior member of a different political group called the Congress party.

During a big holiday where India celebrates becoming free, called Independence Day, Modi gave a speech.

In the speech, he warned about people he called 'dimagi naxals' — a word for people who quietly support a violent group called Naxalites with their ideas, even though they do not fight with guns.

Modi said these people hide inside the government and change rules in sneaky ways.

He also said his government has made the country much safer and stopped most of the violence that had hurt many people for many years.

The very next day, Chidambaram wrote on a website called X that he is proud to be called a 'dimagi naxal'.

Some people think Modi is right to warn about these hidden supporters, while others think he is just being unkind to his opponents.
