Ugandan National Deported from Hyderabad Over Visa Overstay, Drug Links
A woman from Uganda, a country in Africa, traveled to India a long time ago.
She came on something called a tourist visa, which lets people visit for a short time.
That special permission to stay ran out on May 4, 2019, but she stayed in India anyway.
She worked small jobs in a city called Bengaluru and later lived in Hyderabad.
The police thought she was spending time with people who sell illegal drugs, which is against the law.
The police in Hyderabad caught her and checked her papers.
When she could not show a valid visa, they decided she had to go back to her home country.
Police officers took her to an airport in Mumbai and put her on a plane back to Uganda.
They also said she is not allowed to come back to India ever again.
This story reminds us that every country has rules about who can stay and visit.
The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) apprehended 36-year-old Ugandan national Nabanjja Sharon in Hyderabad's Tolichowki area for staying illegally in India.
She arrived in India on an e-Tourist visa on March 6, 2019, via Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi; the visa expired on May 4, 2019.
Police said she moved to Bengaluru for petty jobs and allegedly became associated with drug peddlers and illegal activities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Police reported no drug seizure or specific drug-peddling case against her; the deportation was based on verified visa overstay, with alleged drug links cited as an additional concern.
Coordinating with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) Hyderabad, H-NEW blacklisted her and deported her to Uganda from Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on August 12.
