Hasina Extradition Row: Trivedi Meets Modi After Dhaka Talks
India and Bangladesh are two neighbor countries that share a border.
Right now, their leaders are trying to solve some difficult problems.
Bangladesh's Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, met India's top diplomat in Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi.
During the meeting, Bangladesh asked India to send back Sheikh Hasina, who used to be Bangladesh's leader.
Bangladesh also asked India to send back people accused in the murder of a man named Osman Hadi.
The next day, Trivedi flew to India's capital city, New Delhi, to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi about these requests.
Bangladesh is upset because Hasina spoke to reporters from New Delhi on August 5.
India says it had nothing to do with that event and does not support what she said.
Meanwhile, India's spy chief is visiting Bangladesh, and India is worried about anti-India activities there.
Both countries hope to build a friendlier relationship.
Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday, a day after his talks with Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman in Dhaka.
Bangladesh expressed hope that India will expedite the extradition process of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted following a student-led uprising in 2024.
Dhaka reiterated its request for the return of individuals accused in the murder of Shahid Osman Hadi, a July uprising figure shot at close range on December 12, 2025.
The engagements come amid diplomatic friction after Sheikh Hasina's August 5 virtual press interaction in New Delhi, which Bangladesh's foreign ministry strongly protested.
RAW chief Parag Jain is in Dhaka on an official visit, where India is expected to raise security concerns over rising anti-India activities in Bangladesh.
