Bengaluru police found 31 Bangladeshi nationals who they said were living in India illegally.

The people were detained during police checks in the Electronic City area.

A team of 20 police officers took them from Bengaluru to Malda in West Bengal.

They arrived early Wednesday and were handed to the local police.

The group was placed in a holding centre.

Officials in West Bengal will complete the legal steps needed to send them back to Bangladesh.

In another operation, police checked 1,909 suspected illegal immigrants.

Fifteen people in that operation were confirmed to be Bangladeshi nationals, according to police.
