Key facts

Ambattur dairy upgrade
A homogeniser will be installed at a cost of Rs. 2 crore; the dairy supplies 4.5 lakh litres of packet milk to Chennai consumers.
Milk cooling
Sixty bulk milk coolers and 40 buildings with cooling facilities will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 crore.
Cooler capacity
Each bulk milk cooler will have a capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 litres.
Power backup
Generator sets will be provided to 100 milk coolers.
Adulteration control
Adulteration detectors will be supplied to 84 milk-storing centres.
Cattle programmes
Two programmes, each budgeted at Rs. 10 crore, will address Jersey calf growth and fertility problems in other cows.
Fodder support
Twenty-five metric tonnes of grass seeds will be provided to 5,000 milk producers.
