Indigenous Cattle Breeding Centre in Nellore to Get Water Supply
There is a big farm in India that takes care of special cows and buffaloes from the country.
This farm is called the National Kamadhenu Breeding Centre and it is in Nellore.
For many years, the farm did not have enough water to grow food for its animals.
The government is now building a new pipeline to bring water to the farm.
Two big water storage tanks have already been built there.
The farm keeps 19 different kinds of Indian cows and buffaloes so these breeds do not disappear.
It also has a special laboratory that helps create healthy baby cows.
More than 1,000 special embryos have been made there and many were given to farmers for free.
With the new water supply, the farm will be able to grow more food and take care of more animals.
The National Kamadhenu Breeding Centre (NKBC) at Chinthaladevi in SPSR Nellore district is set to get a dependable water source through the Marrigunta Lift Irrigation pipeline.
Only about 210 acres are currently under cultivation using borewells, after an earlier Rallapadu Lift Irrigation proposal failed.
NKBC has sought ₹3.2 crore from the state government to complete the final phases of the Marrigunta project, with funds expected within two months.
Established under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission with an outlay of ₹36.12 crore, the centre maintains 19 indigenous breeds and over 340 animals on 506 acres.
Its IVF and Embryo Transfer Technology Laboratory, operational since 2022, has produced over 1,000 elite embryos and distributed hundreds to farmers free of cost.
