Ooty now has a machine that sells milk without using plastic sachets.

Aavin Nilgiris installed it near Uzhavar Sandhai in the Charing Cross area.

The machine can hold 200 litres of chilled milk.

People can bring their own bottles, cans or tumblers.

They can pay with cash, cards or UPI.

The machine gives them the amount of milk they paid for.

Its computer records how much milk remains and how long it has been stored.

This pilot project is intended to help reduce plastic waste in the hills.
