It released estimates for individual districts for the first time.

The report studied 757 of India’s 770 districts.

North Twenty-Four Parganas in West Bengal had the most such businesses, with about 16 lakh.

Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh had more than 6 lakh.

The 10 leading districts together represented about one-tenth of the sector’s businesses, workers, and economic output.

Women played a particularly large role in businesses and jobs in several northeastern and Telangana districts.

The report also compared how much economic value workers generated in different districts.
