Security Guard Dies After Iron Gate Collapses At Pune School
A security guard named Sanjay Kamble worked at a school in a city called Pune.
One morning, he was opening the big iron gate at the school's entrance.
Suddenly, the very heavy gate came off its track and fell on top of him.
The gate weighed almost two tonnes, which is as heavy as a small car.
He was badly hurt and was rushed to a hospital.
Doctors tried their best to save him in the intensive care unit.
Sadly, he did not survive and passed away a couple of days later.
People were very sad and angry about what happened.
They said the gate had been broken for a long time and the school was told about it many times.
They want school buildings and gates checked for safety so accidents like this do not happen again.
A 52-year-old security guard, Sanjay Nagnath Kamble, died after a heavy iron sliding gate collapsed on him at Poddar International School in Tathawade, Pune.
The gate, estimated to weigh nearly two tonnes, came off its track while Kamble was opening it at around 8.10 am on July 31, causing severe injuries to his face and head.
He was rushed to Lifepoint Multispeciality Hospital in Wakad and admitted to the ICU, but succumbed to his injuries on August 2 at around 4.45 pm.
Family members, school staff and local residents alleged negligence, claiming the gate had been in poor condition for a long time and repeated complaints to the school management were ignored.
Wakad Police registered an accidental death report (ADR), while the victim's family and residents demanded a criminal case against the school management and a detailed inquiry.
