Child Dies as School Porch Collapses During I-Day Event

On Independence Day, children in a village in Uttar Pradesh gathered at a school to celebrate the holiday.

They wanted to watch the flag-hoisting ceremony and the performances.

Some children from nearby homes climbed onto a porch above the school's main gate to get a better view.

The porch was not strong enough to hold so many children.

It suddenly broke and fell, trapping three children underneath.

One boy named Nizam, who was 8 years old, sadly died.

Two other children, Saif Ali and Shaidana, were hurt and taken to the hospital.

Police and government officials came to look at what had happened and issued instructions.

The family of the boy who died did not want an autopsy to be done.

It was a very sad day for everyone in the village.
