Two Kids Injured as Rusted School Gate Collapses in Koraput
On a school morning in a village in India, two children named Deepak and Kamesh were walking through the big gate of their school.
Suddenly, the old metal gate fell down and landed on them.
Parts of the wall next to the gate fell too.
Grown-ups from the village and the school came quickly to help.
They lifted the heavy pieces of the gate off the children.
The children were taken to a health center to see a doctor.
The doctor said they had small hurts and gave them medicine.
Soon, the children felt better and were allowed to go home.
The school leaders said the gate was very old and rusty, and rain made it weak.
They asked the education officers to fix the school so kids can be safe.
Two students, Deepak Majhi (7) and Kamesh Khil (8), were injured when the main gate of Kaladi Project Upper Primary School collapsed on them.
The rusted iron gate, along with a portion of the adjoining cement boundary wall, fell as the students entered the campus on Thursday.
Villagers and school authorities rescued the children from the debris and shifted them to the Nandapur Community Health Centre.
Health officials said the children sustained minor injuries, received first aid, and were discharged in stable condition.
School authorities said the gate had weakened over time and collapsed unexpectedly due to rains, and they have requested action from education and block development officers.
