Telangana Cabinet to Approve Welfare Expansion, New Land Pooling Policy
The Telangana government has a group of important leaders called the Cabinet.
They are planning to meet on August 14 to make some big decisions.
One decision is about a new way to build roads and buildings.
Instead of taking land from people by force, the government wants to work together with landowners.
If people give their land, they would get back 60 percent of the newly developed plots, and the government keeps the other 40 percent.
The Cabinet also wants to help more people by giving more pensions, free electricity, and cheaper cooking gas cylinders.
The leaders also hope to hold a special meeting of the state legislature.
At that meeting, they want to pass a request to lower the age for running in elections from 25 to 21.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will travel to other countries for three weeks, so the special meeting may happen just before he leaves.
The Telangana Cabinet will meet on August 14 to consider welfare scheme expansion, a new land pooling policy, and a special session of the Legislature.
Under the proposed land pooling policy, landowners would receive 60% of fully developed plots, while agencies like HMDA and TGICC retain 40% for infrastructure and development projects.
The Cabinet is expected to schedule a one-day special Legislative session, likely August 17 or 18, to seek lowering the minimum contesting age from 25 to 21 for Lok Sabha and Assembly and from 30 to 25 for Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council.
Welfare expansion includes pensions for 2.25 lakh more beneficiaries, free electricity for 3-4 lakh more families under Gruha Jyothi, and subsidised LPG for 5 lakh more families under Mahalakshmi at an effective price of ₹500 per cylinder.
The Cabinet is also expected to clear tenders for Indiramma Towers LIG flats in Hyderabad's Core Urban Region and take decisions on Musi rejuvenation and Gandhi Sarovar project works.
