Telangana minister says no room for politics in welfare schemes
In the state of Telangana in India, a leader named Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy gave a speech.
He is the minister in charge of revenue for the state government.
He said that welfare schemes, which help poor people, should be run without any politics.
He talked about things the government gives for free, like electricity and bus rides for women.
He said the previous government did not give out new ration cards, which people use to get food.
The new government says it has given out many new ration cards since 2023.
He announced that 800,000 houses for poor families have been approved.
He also said new pensions will start being approved on August 15.
He promised that every eligible person will get help.
Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said there is no room for politics in implementing welfare schemes for the poor.
He cited free electricity up to 200 units for domestic connections and free travel for women in TGSRTC buses as Congress initiatives.
Ponguleti charged that the BRS government issued no new ration cards in nearly 10 years, while the Congress has issued new cards and supplies fine rice.
Eight lakh Indiramma houses have been sanctioned in two phases, with all eligible families to be covered in phases three and four.
Sanctioning of new Aasara pensions will begin on August 15, and every eligible applicant will receive one.
