Deep Depression to Bring Heavy Rain Across Central, Eastern India
A strong weather system is moving over the Bay of Bengal.
It is expected to reach the coast near Kalingapatnam on the night of 23 September.
Heavy rain may fall in parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh on 24 September.
Rain will then spread across many parts of central and eastern India.
Telangana may receive widespread rain from 24-29 September.
Some areas may also get thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
Rain is also expected in parts of northern, western and southern India.
The India Meteorological Department issued this forecast for 23-29 September.
A deep depression over the westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to cross the coast near Kalingapatnam by the night of 23 September.
North coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Odisha and south Chhattisgarh may receive heavy to very heavy rain, including isolated extremely heavy rainfall, on 24 September.
Rainfall is forecast across Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar through the following days.
The system may also bring rain to parts of northwest, west and southern India, including Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Kerala and coastal Karnataka.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph, reaching 60 kmph, are likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh.
