Leeds Minster to Host Hand-Stitched Gaza Memorial
'Every stitch is a life': Leeds volunteers hand-embroider Gaza's dead ahead of Minster memorial · easterneye.biz

A group of volunteers made a large memorial for Palestinians reported killed in Gaza.

They stitched each person’s name by hand onto fabric.

More than 50,000 names are included.

Over 400 people from 35 countries helped make the panels.

Leeds volunteer Viv Anderson stitched more than 220 names.

She said the work felt like spending time with people who had died.

Textile artist Mary Evers started the project in March 2024.

The memorial will be shown at Leeds Minster in Leeds.

People can visit it for free from September 10 to September 20, except on September 14.
