Panvel To Host First Kharghar Hill Mayor's Marathon; 5,000 Register

A city called Panvel is organizing its very first big marathon race up in the Kharghar hills.

The race will happen on August 23.

The main race is super long — about 42 kilometers — which is a very long distance to run.

Because runners have to go up and down steep hills, it is even harder than the famous city marathon in Mumbai.

About 5,000 people have already signed up to take part.

There are also shorter races, like 10 kilometers, 5 kilometers and 3 kilometers, so more people can join.

Runners pay between Rs 100 and Rs 1,350 to enter, depending on the race.

The city will spend about Rs 2 crore to organize the whole event.

To keep everyone safe, ambulances, water stations and snack points will be placed along the race route.
