CIDCO Withdraws Permission For Kharghar Hill Mayor’s Marathon Over Monsoon Safety Risks · freepressjournal.in

A big running race called the Kharghar Hill Mayor's Marathon was planned for August 23.

But the government agency that owns the hills, CIDCO, said no.

During the rainy season, hills can be dangerous because big rocks can fall and trees can tip over.

So CIDCO took away the permission for the race.

Some people were upset because regular people are not allowed on the hills during the rainy season either.

They asked why runners could go on the hills when everyone else couldn't.

CIDCO said the race organizers can ask for permission again after September 30, when the rainy season is mostly over.

The city officials said they will check the route again and try to get permission.

The mayor also wants to talk to CIDCO's boss to change their minds.

So the race might still happen, but only if it is safe.
