Panvel Municipal Corporation Launches Night Filariasis Screening For Migrant Workers

Panvel Municipal Corporation is checking migrant workers for a disease called lymphatic filariasis.

This disease is also commonly called elephantiasis.

Health workers collect blood samples at night because the disease-causing parasites are easier to find then.

Testing is taking place in areas considered high risk.

These areas include some slums and settlements with many migrant workers.

The samples will be sent to laboratories for testing.

People who test positive will receive treatment and follow-up care.

Health workers are also explaining why testing and finishing medicines are important.

The campaign asks eligible migrant workers to cooperate with the health teams.
