Andhra Pradesh Assembly Passes Bill for Automatic Property Mutation

When you buy a house, the government needs to know who owns it.

In the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, this used to take two separate steps.

First, you registered the property.

Then, you had to visit another office to change the owner's name in city records.

That second step is called mutation.

The state government has now passed a new law to make this easier.

Under the new law, the registration system and city records will be connected.

When you register a property, the owner's name will change automatically.

You will also pay the mutation fee at the same time as registration.

This means fewer visits to government offices and less paperwork.

The government hopes this will make buying property faster and simpler.
