Andhra Pradesh adds currency-style security to land passbooks

Andhra Pradesh is a state in India where many people own small pieces of land.

Landowners get special books called pattadar passbooks that prove they own their land.

The state government wants to make these books much harder to copy or fake.

So it will add special security features to the passbooks, just like the ones used on real money notes.

The government is also putting land records onto computers as digital records.

A new system will help update land ownership details automatically, called automated mutation.

The state has also removed thousands of acres of land from a restricted list, which means more land can now be used freely.

In addition, the government is planning to resurvey all the land in the state.

It hopes to finish this big land survey by the year 2027.

All these changes are meant to keep land records safe and correct.
