Food Commission member inspects meals, records and ration shops
A Food Commission member visited schools and food centres in Vijayawada Rural and NTR district.
He checked how meals were prepared and given to students.
At one school, he found that 600 extra chikkis had been written in the records.
He asked an education official to explain this.
He ate lunch with the children and said the food was good.
He also found that an Anganwadi register listed more children than were enrolled.
At two ration shops, rice was stored in plastic bags instead of gunny bags.
One ration-shop dealer was also running a grocery shop, so officials were told to correct the problem.
B Kantha Rao inspected a government school in Nidamanuru under the Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
He found 600 extra chikkis recorded in the school’s meal records and sought an explanation from the DEO.
Kantha Rao ate lunch with students and expressed satisfaction with the food quality.
At Singh Nagar 7 Anganwadi Centre, the attendance register listed more children than were actually enrolled.
He ordered action over ration-shop irregularities, including grocery sales and rice stored in plastic bags.
