Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened new parts of a major road on Tuesday.

The road is called the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway.

It is planned to be 379 km long, and about 150 km is now open.

Two newly described sections near Surat and Navsari together cover about 63.5 km.

The road is designed for fast travel with controlled access.

It should make it easier to move between Vadodara, Surat and Navsari.

It may also reduce traffic on the older Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway.

Work on remaining sections is expected to continue until 2027-2028.
