Mumbai landslide death toll rises to eight as rescue ends
In Mumbai, a big city in India, there was a landslide.
A landslide happens when dirt and rocks suddenly slide down a hill.
It happened early in the morning on Wednesday after very heavy rain.
The soil and boulders fell on a row of small homes called shanties.
Sadly, eight people died because of the landslide.
On Thursday, rescue workers found the body of a 28-year-old man in the rubble.
After that, they stopped the big search-and-rescue operation.
But fire brigade and city workers kept clearing away the debris.
Seven other people who were hurt are getting treatment in hospitals.
People who lived in nearby homes were moved to safe, temporary places to stay.
The death toll in the Mumbai landslide rose to eight on Thursday after the body of a 28-year-old man was recovered from the debris.
The man, identified as Saddam Wazir Ali Khan, was declared brought dead at the civic-run Rajawadi Hospital.
The search and rescue operation was called off, although fire brigade and civic teams continued clearing debris.
The landslide struck early Wednesday when soil and boulders from an adjoining hillock fell on shanties in Ashok Nagar, Sakinaka, following heavy rain.
Seven others injured in the landslide were undergoing treatment at civic-run hospitals, and residents of adjoining shanties were evacuated.
