Madhya Pradesh has received most of the rain it usually gets during the monsoon season.
The state has received about 27.3 inches out of an expected 30 inches.
Some places, including Bhind, Niwari and Satna, have already received more than their usual amount.
Weather officials expect heavy rain again in the first week of September.
This rain could help the state reach its normal seasonal total.
Many dams are now between half-full and 90% full.
Some dam gates have been opened to release water.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh has had stronger rain, while parts of the west still need more.
