Mazzo restaurant in Hyderabad prepared a traditional Kerala feast for Onam.

The feast is called a Sadhya.

Chef Suresh Rajan Pillai made about 27 to 29 vegetarian dishes.

The food was served on banana leaves in a traditional order.

The menu included curries, vegetable dishes, snacks and three types of payasam.

Coconut oil helped give the food its Kerala-style taste.

Most of the dishes were made without onion because of the chef’s family tradition.

Many different people booked the meal, including Muslim guests.

The chef says Onam is about bringing people together, not about one religion.
