Every year, people celebrate a festival called Ashada Sare by giving her a special saree.

This Wednesday, the police chief, Mr. Rajasekhar Babu, came to the temple with his wife to offer one.

Police officers walked in a colourful parade with music playing.

The temple leaders welcomed them with honours.

Women police officers were invited with gifts like bangles, blouse pieces, and kumkum, a red powder used in prayers.

Lots of other women and families also visited the temple that day.

By 5 o'clock, more than 18,000 people had offered their sarees to the goddess.
