Andhra Pradesh Sets 37 Lakh Tonne Kharif Paddy Procurement Target
Andhra Pradesh plans to buy 37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers during the kharif season.
The procurement will start on November 1.
The government will open 2,619 centres where farmers can bring their paddy.
About 24,000 staff members will help manage the process.
Thousands of GPS-enabled vehicles will move the paddy to rice mills.
The government is also preparing 6.10 crore bags and backup bags in case supplies run short.
Farmers who use their own vehicles will receive transport money directly in their bank accounts.
Officials will review the target because recent rain may increase the harvest.
Help centres and a special state cell will handle farmers’ complaints.
