Tamil Nadu Begins Paddy Procurement With Higher Farmer Incentives
Tamil Nadu has started buying paddy from farmers for the 2026-27 season.
Buying centres opened on September 1.
Farmers began selling their paddy on September 3.
Grade-A paddy will be bought for Rs 2,750 per quintal.
Common paddy will be bought for Rs 2,600 per quintal.
The government also increased extra incentive payments for both types of paddy.
By September 20, more than one lakh tonnes had been purchased from over 20,000 farmers.
Farmers who face problems or are asked for money can complain on WhatsApp.
This system is meant to make paddy buying fairer and easier.
