Telangana Plans Rs 18,250-Crore Kharif Paddy Procurement Operation
Telangana is getting ready to buy a large amount of paddy from farmers.
The state plans to purchase 65 lakh metric tonnes during the Kharif season.
This work is expected to cost Rs 18,250 crore.
Officials will set up 8,283 places where farmers can sell their paddy.
These centres should open by October 1, and buying should start on October 15.
The busiest months are expected to be November and December.
The minister wants enough storage, bags, trucks and workers ready before then.

The procurement operation is estimated to cost Rs 18,250 crore and will involve 8,283 purchase centres.
All purchase centres are to open by October 1, with procurement scheduled to begin October 15.
Officials were told to arrange storage, gunny bags, transport, hamalies and equipment before peak arrivals in November and December.
The state currently has 3.50 crore of the 16.25 crore gunny bags required, while the remainder is being procured.
