A man from Kolkata wanted to book a hotel for a family trip to Nainital.

He found a hotel website and called the number shown on it.

The person who answered pretended to be a hotel worker.

The caller said the hotel was nearly full and asked for Rs 24,000.

The man paid the money and later shared his credit card details.

The caller then pressured him to share a one-time password, or OTP.

Soon afterward, Rs 150,888 was taken from his account.

Police say fake hotel websites are being used for similar scams and are investigating this case.
