Godavari Water Supports Krishna Delta Amid Low Reservoir Levels
The Andhra Pradesh government is using water from the Godavari River to help farmers in the Krishna delta.
This is because there hasn't been enough rain, and the reservoirs are not full.
The government is pumping water through a special project called Pattiseema Lift Irrigation.
So far, they have moved 8 TMC feet of water to help farmers grow crops like paddy.
However, some farmers are worried because they might not get enough water.
If they don't get water by August 15, they might not plant crops this season and instead grow pulses later.
Godavari water is being diverted to the Krishna delta to support irrigation and drinking water needs.
Low reservoir levels in Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, and Pulichintala due to poor rainfall and El Nino.
Around 8 TMC feet of water has been diverted so far, supporting 13.08 lakh acres of farmland.
Farmers are uncertain about water supply and may skip Kharif cultivation if water remains unavailable.
Water Resources officials are monitoring water levels round the clock to ensure adequate supply.
