PayU launches accessible checkout for visually impaired users
PayU is a company that helps people pay for things online.
It has made a new special checkout page to help people who cannot see well.
Some people who are blind use screen readers that read the screen out loud.
The new checkout works with screen readers so users can hear what is on the page.
Users can choose how to pay, check the amount, and finish their payment using their voice.
People with low vision can change the colours on the page, like making it high contrast or black and white.
They can also make the text bigger, up to double its normal size.
Users can save their favourite settings so they do not have to change them every time.
Stores that already use PayU do not need to change anything, and the goal is to let everyone pay online by themselves without needing help.
PayU launched an accessible payments checkout designed to help blind and visually impaired users pay online independently.
The checkout features screen-reader optimisation and voice-command navigation for payment options such as UPI and net banking.
Users with low vision, colour blindness or light sensitivity can use visual modes including high contrast, greyscale, colour inversion and saturation adjustments.
Text can be enlarged to up to 200% of the standard size without overlapping or obscuring other page elements.
Manas Mishra, Chief Product Officer of PayU and Wibmo, said true financial inclusion requires people to access and use digital payments independently.
