Delhi Teen Swept Away Into Overflowing Drain on Way Home
An 18-year-old man named Ankit was on his way home from work in Noida when very heavy rain hit Delhi.
The rain filled an open drain near a bridge in Sarita Vihar with fast-flowing water.
Ankit tried to jump across the drain to get home quickly, even though people nearby warned him to be careful.
He slipped, fell into the water, and was carried away by the strong current.
Rescue workers, including special teams called NDRF and divers, searched for him.
But even more than 12 hours later, they had not found him.
Ankit's father asked the authorities to try harder to find his son.
People who live in the area say they had complained about the open drain many times, but nothing was done.
The heavy rain also flooded many roads across Delhi and the surrounding region, making travel difficult.

He slipped and fell near a bridge in the Priyanka Camp area under the Sarita Vihar police station limits in South East Delhi around 8 pm.
More than 12 hours later, police, NDRF personnel and divers had found no trace of Ankit.
Locals said they had repeatedly raised safety concerns about the open drain with authorities but no action was taken.
Torrential rain caused widespread waterlogging across Delhi-NCR, with water levels reaching nearly four feet on MB Road near the Air Force Station.
