Bandra Terminus Plans Larger Holding Area With New Ticketing
Bandra Terminus in Mumbai is being given a much larger waiting area for passengers.
The new space will cover 2,625 square metres and hold about 3,700 people.
It will have ticket counters and machines so passengers can buy tickets more easily.
There will be eight UTS counters and six automatic ticket machines.
The area will also include toilets, drinking-water taps and information screens.
These facilities are meant to make busy travel periods more organised.
The project is expected to help during peak and festive seasons.
It is part of a larger railway plan to reduce crowding at busy stations.
Western Railway is developing a 2,625-square-metre passenger holding area at Bandra Terminus.
The facility is designed to accommodate around 3,700 passengers, compared with about 600 currently.
A 285-square-metre ticketing zone will include eight UTS counters, six ATVMs and 10 workstations.
Planned amenities include toilets, drinking-water taps, information screens and spaces for passenger movement.
The project, estimated at ₹16.43 crore, is part of a wider plan for permanent holding areas at busy railway stations.
