78 Telangana Prison Inmates Clear SSC Through NIOS
Some people make mistakes and have to live in a special place called prison.
In Telangana, a state in India, the people who run the prisons want everyone to keep learning.
They made a deal with a school called NIOS so prisoners could study for a big exam called the SSC.
This year, 78 prisoners passed the exam, and 108 prisoners tried.
They studied for almost a year, going to classes, taking practice tests, and doing pre-exams with their teachers.
The leader of the prisons, Dr Soumya Mishra, gave each winner a certificate and a special reward called remission, which can shorten their time in prison.
One prisoner wants to become a lawyer so he can help other prisoners for free, and another wished he had studied more as a child.
The prison is already helping 47 more prisoners continue their studies.

Seventy-eight of 108 enrolled inmates cleared the SSC examination through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), a first for the Telangana Prisons Department.
Pass-outs included 56 from Central Prison Cherlapalli, 15 from Central Prison Nizamabad and 7 from the Special Prison for Women, Hyderabad.
Inmates prepared for nearly a year with regular classes, mock tests and pre-board exams, choosing practical subjects such as Data Entry Operator skills.
Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Dr Soumya Mishra distributed certificates and announced Director General's Remission for all 78 successful candidates.
Forty-seven inmates enrolled for the next stage — one article reports they newly enrolled for SSC, another reports Senior Secondary (10+2) — and graduates are eligible for Dr B.R. Ambedkar Open University and ITI courses.
