Telangana intensifies mission to re-enrol school dropouts through TOSS
In Telangana, a part of India, some children had to stop going to school and never finished their studies.
The government wants to help these children come back and finish school.
A special program called TOSS lets students study on their own and take exams for classes 10 and 12.
There are also grown-ups who never learned to read and write.
Another program called ULLAS will help these adults learn to read and write.
On Friday, many important people from different groups met to talk about this plan.
They agreed to work together to find children who left school and bring them back.
The government will also make it easier for students to sign up online.
Teachers at schools will get training to help students learn job skills.
Groups like Pratham and Educate Girls promised to help, so more children can finish school and more adults can learn to read.
Education Secretary Dr Yogitas Rana called for close coordination among all departments to identify and motivate school dropouts and failed candidates to enrol in TOSS and complete their SSC and Intermediate Education.
The state-level Convergence Meeting on Friday also focused on identifying and enrolling non-literate persons under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for all in Society) adult education programme.
Director of School Education Dr Naveen Nicolas said part-time instructors in schools would be oriented to guide students on the vocational education syllabus.
Officials emphasised the need to simplify the online admission process for open schooling.
Educate Girls and Pratham expressed their commitment to supporting learner mobilisation and strengthening enrolment in TOSS.
