JNVST 2027 Registration Deadline Extended to August 10
There are special schools in India called Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, or JNVs, where children can study for free.
To get into Class 6 of these schools, kids have to take a test called JNVST.
The last day to sign up for the 2027 test was July 31, but the school has moved it to August 10, 2026.
That gives more kids time to apply, and applying is completely free.
The test itself will happen on November 28, 2026.
Only children who are in Class 5 during the 2026-27 school year and study in a recognized school in the same district can apply.
At JNVs, students get free food, a place to stay, uniforms, and books.
Older students in Classes 9 to 12 pay a small fee of Rs 600 each month, but many students do not have to pay it.
The results of the test will come out around the end of March 2027.
JNVST 2027 registration deadline for Class 6 admission (2027-28 session) has been extended to August 10, 2026, from the earlier July 31 date.
The selection test will be held on November 28, 2026, in a single phase for both summer-bound and winter-bound Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Applications are free of cost through official websites navodaya.gov.in and cbseitms.rcil.gov.in/nvs; registration began on July 7, 2026.
Education at JNVs is free, but Classes 9-12 students pay Rs 600 per month toward Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi, with exemptions for SC/ST, Divyang, girls, and BPL students.
Results are expected by the end of March 2027, and eligibility requires studying in Class 5 during 2026-27 in a recognized school within the same district.
