BRICS Summit Opens in Delhi as Leaders Gather

India is hosting a large international meeting called the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.

The two-day event is being held at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13.

Leaders from Russia, China, Iran, South Africa and Egypt are attending.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting India for the first time since 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to meet many visiting leaders separately.

The countries will discuss trade, finance, technology, development and energy security.

Conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East are also expected to be discussed.

Iran's president said pressure on his country had become very serious.

Some Delhi roads have restrictions, so people are being advised to use the Metro when possible.
