World Leaders Gather in New Delhi for 18th BRICS Summit
India is hosting a large meeting called the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
It will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026.
Leaders and senior officials from many countries are expected to attend.
These include the presidents of China, Russia, Iran, Egypt, Indonesia and South Africa.
Some visitors will meet India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi separately.
BRICS is a group of major emerging economies that has grown to 11 members.
The group also has partner countries that take part in its activities.
India wants the meeting to focus on resilience, new ideas, cooperation and sustainability.
India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12-13, 2026.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders are scheduled to attend.
Several attendees, including Xi, Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, are scheduled for talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BRICS now has 11 members representing about 49.5% of global population, 40% of global GDP and 26% of global trade.
India is chairing BRICS for the fourth time under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
