India hits half its quantum communications target in 3 years
India has started a big science project called the National Quantum Mission.
The goal is to build special communication lines that are very hard for hackers to break.
These lines use special technology called quantum technology.
India wanted to build 2,000 kilometres of these safe communication lines in ten years.
But in just three years, India has already built more than 1,000 kilometres.
That means India is moving much faster than planned.
A minister named Jitendra Singh shared this exciting news at a big technology meeting in New Delhi.
The mission will also help build quantum computers and other smart machines.
India has also helped many new small companies start up.
From only 350 new companies to over 2.4 lakh in ten years is a huge jump!

Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced the milestone at the third India International FinTech Festival in New Delhi.
The National Quantum Mission, approved by the Union Cabinet in 2023, has a budget of Rs 6,003.65 crore until 2030-31.
The mission spans four verticals: quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum materials.
India's startup count grew from 350 to over 2.4 lakh in the last decade, with space and nuclear sectors opened to private participation.
