India Marks Space Sector Growth With 548 Satellites in Orbit
India is celebrating how much its space program has grown.
A minister said the country has launched 100 missions and put 548 satellites into orbit.
About 460 of those satellites were sent up in the last 10 years.
India has carried out missions to study the Moon, Mars and the Sun.
Chandrayaan-3 landed near the Moon’s south pole in 2023.
This made India the first country to reach that part of the Moon.
The mission’s lander and rover studied the lunar surface for about 14 Earth days.
National Space Day honors this achievement and India’s wider work in space science.

Chandrayaan-3 soft-landed near the Moon’s south pole on August 23, 2023, making India the first country to reach that region.
The Chandrayaan-3 lander and Pragyan rover operated for about 14 Earth days and conducted lunar surface experiments.
