Andhra Pradesh has approved a new university campus for quantum technology and artificial intelligence.

The campus will be built in Amaravati and is expected to cost ₹730.70 crore.

NIELIT, which works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, will establish it.

Classes are planned to start in September 2026 at a temporary facility in Guntur.

Students will be able to study quantum computing, AI, semiconductors, chip design and data science.

The permanent campus will include laboratories, classrooms, hostels and research facilities.

It will also have a special block for research, innovation and start-ups.

The project aims to train about 8,250 learners over five years.

Reports differ on whether the approval meeting took place on Thursday or Friday.
