Bastar Tiranga Yatra To Honour Martyred Jawans In Ex-Maoist Strongholds
The Bastar Tiranga Yatra is a big walk that will happen for three days in a place called south Bastar in India.
It is being done to say thank you to soldiers who kept people safe from a dangerous group called Naxals or Maoists.
These soldiers gave their lives over the past 40 years.
The walk will start on August 12 in a town called Narayanpur.
It will end on August 14 at a place called Karregutta Hills, where the last Maoist fort was closed earlier this year.
The walk will go through forests in three districts called Narayanpur, Dantewada, and Bijapur.
It will also pass through a place called Abujhmad, which was once called the capital of the Maoists.
The walk will help young tribal people learn more about their country and feel proud of it.
On Independence Day, the Indian flag will be raised for the very first time in 90 villages in this area.
The leaders say this shows that Bastar is now peaceful and free from the Naxal problem.
A three-day Bastar Tiranga Yatra will launch on August 12 to honour security personnel who died fighting Leftwing Extremism in Chhattisgarh over the last four decades.
The yatra will traverse former Naxal strongholds in three south Bastar districts: Narayanpur, Dantewada, and Bijapur.
It begins in the headquarter town of Narayanpur and ends on August 14 at Karregutta Hills, the last Maoist fort to fall earlier this year.
Officials say the yatra aims to integrate tribal youths of Bastar with nation building and inculcate patriotism, and will also cover Abujhmad, once considered the Maoist capital in India.
The tricolour is set to be hoisted for the first time in 90 villages in south Bastar on the occasion of Independence Day.
