Chhattisgarh village hoists Tricolour first time on Independence Day
In India, there is a special holiday called Independence Day.
In a village called Boter, people celebrated it for the very first time.
Boter is in the state of Chhattisgarh.
For many years, a group called the Naxals controlled this village.
The Naxals told people they could not celebrate holidays or fly the Indian flag.
If people broke the rules, they were punished.
This year, the police and security forces made the area safe.
So on Independence Day, the Indian flag was raised at the village school and at the police camp.
The villagers were happy and the children were very excited.
Everyone hopes the village will now grow and develop.
The Tricolour was hoisted for the first time on Independence Day in Boter village, a former Naxal stronghold in Chhattisgarh's Abujhmad region.
The flag was raised at the government primary school in Boter and at the camp of the 29th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
Villagers said national festivals were earlier banned by Naxals, who forced residents to hoist black flags instead of the Tricolour.
The change followed Operation Kagar, a nearly 50-hour security operation on May 21, 2025, in which 27 Naxals were killed, including Maoist General Secretary Keshav Rao.
The Tricolour was also hoisted for the first time at Karreguttalu Hills in Bijapur district, another former Naxal stronghold.
