GHMC Clears 126 Tonnes Waste During Special Monsoon Drive
Hyderabad is a big city.
It has a city government called GHMC, which means Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
During the rainy season, water can collect in the streets and make people sick.
So GHMC started a special ten-day cleaning drive.
On the second day, workers cleaned waste and dirt from 30 parts of the city.
They fixed holes in the roads and cleaned the drains.
They also sprayed special medicine to stop mosquitoes from breeding.
Workers talked to people about staying healthy and keeping the city clean.
This helps everyone stay safe during the monsoon.
GHMC's 10-day special monsoon drive covered 30 wards on Day 2, removing 126 metric tonnes of legacy municipal solid waste.
The drive also cleared 46.6 MT of construction and demolition waste and 11.9 MT of floating material and silt.
Infrastructure work included filling 105 potholes, cleaning 65 catch pits, and clearing two culverts.
Sanitation efforts involved inspecting 24 public toilets and installing 107 commercial waste bins at shops.
Awareness activities included 29 BWG meetings, programmes in 18 schools covering about 700 participants, and distribution of 1,041 Indiramma sarees.
